Repeat After Me!
I love recommending simple, free things that work, and while it may sound woo-woo or pathetic (cue the Stuart Smalley Video), I'll admit I'm a fan of affirmations.
Saying something positive and affirming repeatedly to myself or out loud (be sure nobody is around or people will think you're crazy) works. And while I haven't measured my blood pressure or heart rate when I do this, I know I feel better, and that's good enough for me.
You can create your own affirmations or borrow someone else's. Either way, when using an affirmation, express exactly what you want and make sure it sounds like you, with no formal or fake language. You want to feel a HECK YEAH every time you say it.
Ready to give it a try? Here are some I like:
Money flows to me in expected and unexpected ways.
My dream job is coming to me.
Nobody I care about is judging me; it's safe to put my work out in the world.
In big and small ways, I'm taking steps to go next level in my work.
Every day my work gets easier and easier.
Dream clients find me at exactly the right time.
The right people and circumstances always come my way.
Want some more ideas? I highly recommend those of the OG queen of affirmations, Louise Hay.
Feeling cynical and need some evidence - check out the research described in Positive Psychology.
In my experience, affirmations work because saying them reminds you of what you want and what's possible. This leads to big and small actions that immediately move you in that direction. Simple and free!
