5 Strategies To Overcome Limiting Beliefs
Sometimes, I think the overarching theme of my life has been overcoming the limiting beliefs given to me as a child. What goes in early goes deep.
The religion of my birth said that women were second-class citizens whose only role was the care of others.
The culture I was born into said that while women could work, they were only capable of making it so far.
And the family message I received was that I was unwanted, unloveable and should always aim low.
I recently heard what goes in early goes deep. This feels true. We learn untrue things about ourselves as tiny humans and internalize them. And if we're fortunate, as adults, we unpack those things, explore them, get support, and do the work to let them go. I'm still working on them.
Here are 5 effective strategies I've found to overcome limiting beliefs.
Surround yourself with people who believe in you. Friends, bosses, colleagues, and coaches make an enormous impact.
Therapy.
Be judicious about what you read, watch and listen to as you reprogram your brain.
Stay in action and continue to provide yourself with the evidence that the limiting beliefs aren't true.
Support Others. Helping others to overcome their limiting beliefs is healing for you, too.
How about you? What's worked to help you get over your limiting beliefs?
